Who is eligible for membership?
Membership in OETC is open to any accredited educational institution in the United States that serves preK-20 students. This includes, but is not limited to, public preK-12 school districts, state-recognized private schools, community colleges, two- and four-year universities and colleges, regional educational service districts, professional educational organizations serving educators of preK-16 students, and state agencies primarily responsible for the administration of public education in any state in the U.S. An educational institution is defined as an incorporated or governmental not-for-profit entity with the purpose of providing direct instruction to students in grades preK-16 applicable towards a degree recognized by an independent accreditation organization.
Why should my district or college become an OETC member?
OETC offers significant savings to members on software and hardware purchases for educational use. We are able to offer the best possible price through the unique pricing and distribution agreements OETC has entered on behalf of its members. By aggregating to represent the largest segment of the market, OETC can negotiate for better pricing and distribution arrangements that meet the needs of both large and small member organizations. For instance, members in OETC can buy licenses separate from media or documentation.
OETC also offers personal purchasing for member staff, faculty, and students on some items such as Microsoft and Adobe software, Authentium, Inspiration, and Texas Instruments calculators through www.techhead.org.
OETC membership includes free subscriptions to the New Century Schoolhouse, and Ed:IT, quarterly newsletters dedicated to bringing educational technology information, curriculum ideas, how to articles and more to teachers, IT staff, technology coordinators and administrators. OETC members can also take advantage of professional development grant opportunities. Each year, OETC provides funding for qualified applicants to hold seminars or workshops related to technology use in the classroom.
How to Join OETC
To renew or start membership in OETC, please review the membership agreement prior to filling out the membership application. Complete the membership form and return it to OETC with a purchase order or Agency check for the annual membership dues (see fee schedule below). Memberships are for the academic year July 1 to June 30. Please fill out the membership form completely. It is important that we have correct information so your Agency's orders will be processed promptly and smoothly.
The membership form must be signed by the Superintendent or Chief Executive Officer of your educational institution. Orders shall commence upon acceptance of the membership agreement and receipt of your Agency purchase order for membership dues. Signing the membership form denotes acceptance of all conditions of the membership agreement. Membership forms cannot be accepted via the web or e-mail because we require this signature. Orders will only be accepted by fax, mail, or via online purchasing paid for by credit card. Phone orders are not accepted. Member orders will be shipped to the Technology Specialist specified on the membership form.
